Benjamin B. Cowins, Sr., Ph.D. is a semi-retired public school educator. He is the co-founder and Vice President of the Ralph Hogges, Benjamin Cowins and Delores Smiley's Writers Group of South Florida. Ben is the author or co-author of six books. He believes in encouraging potential writers to join "The Writer's group" and to write, write, and write.

Klarke A. Cowins, is the daughter of Karen and Benjamin Cowins II. The author is a a pre-teen, elementary school student, and a lover of books
and ducks. It is her hope and desire that young readers will appreciate her book, enjoy it and share it with others. Klarke Cowins is also a member of the Ralph Hogges and Benjamin Cowins Writers Group of South Florida.

Ralph Hogges is a retired professor and executive director of the Institute for Public Policy and Executive Leadershiop in Higher Education at Nova Sotheastern University. A writer of diverse genres, he is the author of sixteen books. He is also the founder, host and moderatore of the Monthly Scholars' Roundtable and Forum.

Dr. Dunn holds advance degrees in higher education administration and an undergraduate degree in elementary education. Dr. Dunn's many years of work in education include teaching at the elementary grade levels as well as teaching at the college and graduate levels.

I have written several short stories and had some of them published in the Imagine literary magazine. I have also been published in the Algonquin Quarterly (“The Water Buffalo and Pink Flamingo”) and in an anthology For Your Eyes Only (“Casino Blues”). Walk in Bethel is my first novel. This novel won an international competition in
General Fiction (June, 2015), in which I traveled to Paris to receive the award. I have published five additional novels, Reflections, Groovin’ on the Half Shell, A Winter Friend, Casino Blues, and Five Secrets 6 Stethoscopes.

Valda is a retired teacher from the island of Jamaica. A born again
Christian, she has served in several church ministries in prayer and
intercession and teaching. Through the Valley was written to encourage
readers as they go through their various valley experiences. Due to her physical challenges, she was forced to retire from public service but is still active in her church.

Mrs. Harriet Blackshear-Cowins the author, is a former kindergarten teacher at Cox's Kindergarten that was located in historic Miami, Florida's over-town community. She is a member of The Sophisticated Red Hatters of Miami Gardens, Mt. Hermon AME Church of Miami Gardens, Florida, the Quettes of Sigma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the proud Grandmother of three children and the mother of three children.

Dr. Delores M. Smiley retired as Executive Director for Diversity and Cultural Affairs at the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern University.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from Western Michigan University and a Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University’s School of Education.
